Your energy bill decoded
Frequently asked questions
How to Read Your Ecofix Invoice
An energy bill is rarely thrilling reading material. Numbers, terms, boxes... while what you really want to know is: “What am I paying, and why?”
In this blog, we'll briefly explain:
what types of invoices you can receive,
how your Ecofix Gas & Power invoice is structured,
how you can view, track, and manage everything in detail via our app.
1. What Types of Invoices Are There?
In energy, you usually encounter three types:
1. Advance Invoice
An advance invoice is an interim bill based on an estimate of your usage.
At Ecofix Gas & Power:
you pay your advance only monthly or every 3 months,
this amount is later settled with your final bill.
So it's not an extra cost, but an advance on your total energy year.
2. Annual or Monthly Settlement
This compares your actual usage with all the advances you've paid:
Paid too much? You'll get money back.
Paid too little? You'll pay the difference.
With Ecofix Gas & Power, you can opt for a monthly settlement based on your actual usage (definitely worthwhile with a digital meter). In that case, you no longer pay traditional advances, but settle monthly based on what you have actually used.
3. Final Invoice
You receive a final invoice:
if you move
or if you switch suppliers
This definitively closes your previous period based on the meter readings provided to us by your network operator.
2. Understanding Your Ecofix Invoice Structure
We keep your invoice as logical and clear as possible. The main sections on your invoice are:
0. Overview of Customer, Product, and Contract Details
Here you can see at a glance:
your name, address, and customer number,
which product it pertains to (Motion or Flexy),
your contract type (e.g., gas and/or electricity).
1. Your Advance or ‘Settlement’
This is the summary:
for advance invoices: the amount you pay now,
for monthly or annual settlements: the total of your costs and whether you need to pay more or receive a reimbursement.
2. Payment Information
Here's everything you need to make a payment:
amount,
due date,
structured message,
account number or QR code.
3. Detailed Annex
Here we dive deeper:
an overview of all your connections (electricity/gas),
the periods the invoice covers,
the respective costs per connection.
4. Overview of Your Friends with Benefits (FWB)
Do you have a non-online contract and use our Friends with Benefits program?
Then you see here:
how many Friends with Benefits you already have,
what discount you get on your invoice with them.
Important: you might still receive an older version of our invoice design.
In that case, the detailed information and your Friends with Benefits overview are still just under the block “Your Advance”.
We are rolling out our new, clearer design step by step to all customers.
3. Full Control in the Ecofix App
Your invoice is one thing, but the real control comes from our app. There you can:
consult every detail of your cost breakdown, with texts and explanations per section;
see exactly how the capacity tariff (your peak capacity) relates to your total invoice;
view and download your invoices;
pay your invoices via the app;
adjust your advance amount if your usage changes;
add a new delivery address when you move or want an extra connection.
In short: your paper or pdf invoice is the overview, but in the app, you get the magnifying glass.
